Hi from the farm!
We are closing out July with a pretty big week: the garlic harvest is complete, our irrigation is set up and our eggplant, peppers, and cherry tomatoes have started to arrive! In the next 10 days, we will begin our onion harvest (like the garlic, once they are ready they must all come out of the ground) and we expect our first slicing tomatoes to be here any day! Other delicious items from the field that we can expect to join us for August include: husk cherries, tomatillos, and okra.
The flower field has been in bloom for a few weeks now, but in recent days we have welcomed amaranth, queen anne's lace and marigolds to the mix. The cosmos are just starting to pop and while the asters are the last to bloom, they should be here any day! **Flower Harvest Tip: we grow several drying varieties that can be cut and hung and used for decoration well into the next year. Gomphrena, Statice, and Strawflower are all great options for creating lasting bouquets!**
