Good morning from the farm!
It is hard to believe we are already into the second half of summer here on the East End. With only 6 weeks to go until Labor Day, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of a few different ways to participate in events at the farm. Many of you have been asking about our long table dinners in the field. While we did put our Copper Oven Dinner Series on hold for 2017 (as we opened our brand new farm market!) , we will still be hosting Outstanding in the Field for two nights in September. This organization travels the country, and conducts open-air feasts in partnership with local farmers and chefs to celebrate good food and good people. Visit Outstanding in the Field to learn more and buy your tickets to the dinners at Amber Waves. On Friday, September 15, we will be joined by guest chef Hilary Sterling of Vic's in Manhattan. And, on Sunday, September 16, our partner-in-food-crime Jason Weiner of Almond will be cooking. We hope to see you there!
If you are looking for something a bit more casual, our Saturday workshop series will continue through August. Each Saturday we are bringing in experts in their fields to talk about things like flower arranging, pie baking, fermentation and more...Visit our events page to learn more and sign up! *The workshops have been filling up, so don't wait, reserve your seat today!
Want to get your hands dirty? We are hosting a Volunteer Day on Wednesday, August 2 from 10am-11pm. No need to register for this one, just show up! We'll meet at the farm gate.
Looking for something for the kids? Every Saturday and Sunday from now through Labor Day we are hosting Farm Chores for Kids from 9:30am-10:30am. Help feed the chickens, collect eggs and tend to our Explorer's Garden! Children must be accompanied by an adult. This series is free and there is no need to register beforehand.
Also, on Tuesdays in July we have partnered with the Wellness Foundation to host Kids Cooking Classes. Harvest food right from the field and learn simple techniques for cooking up delicious, healthy meals. Only two classes left! Visit our events page to sign up!
