Join Nicole Rutsch and Amber Waves Farm to learn the basics of making both sweet and savory jams. Nicole will discuss and demonstrate how she makes her signature Peach and Raspberry Lavender Jam and Colleen from Amber Waves Farm will share a recipe for Pickled Plum Jam! Workshop attendees will go home with a jar of jam and recipe cards.
Nicole will also share some of her favorite recipes using jams for way more than just your morning toast! We will munch on some of her bites + enjoy jam-infused cocktails as she shares how to use jams in marinades, on sandwiches, in baking, and more! The workshop will conclude with a tour of Amber Waves's Amagansett field and the opportunity for attendees to harvest raspberries + herbs to take home and practice making jam on their own!
ABOUT NICOLE RUTSCH
Nicole Rutsch is the founder of Liebe is Jam and Nicole Rutsch Catering. Born and raised in Stadecken, Germany, Nicole grew up on a farm, learning how to turn leftover fruit into jam and preserves to accompany homemade breads and butter made by her “Oma” (Grandma). Memories of making and eating jam with her grandmother inspired Nicole to begin making her own jams, combining traditional fruit flavors and adding a hint of something different, like lavender, maple and sage.
She started selling her jams on Etsy in 2011 and has since branched out to selling her jam line at stores throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn and eventually starting Nicole Rutsch Catering & Styling, a full-service catering and food + event styling company. When Nicole is not making jam or cooking for her clients, she can be found working on her photography around the city and painting.
