Learn the basics of pickling, jam making, and tomato canning with cookbook author and Food in Jars blogger Marisa McClellan. She'll walk you through the steps of making tomato jam, as well as quick and preserved pickles and will show you the basics of how to safely preserve using the boiling water bath process. All students will leave with jars of the preserves made in class and a thick packet of information so that you can replicate the recipes at home. Marisa has taught canning and preserving for more than a decade and loves to share her knowledge and experience with new and experienced canners alike. At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to head into the field with one of Amber Waves's farmers to harvest some tomatoes, cucumbers, and green beans to continue practicing preserving at home!
